New Organist Hired |

Dr. Patrick
Hawkins is the Organist/Choirmaster at Mt.
Hermon Lutheran Church and is also the Choir
Teacher at Spring Valley High School in Richland
2 School District. A native of Virginia, he
holds degrees in organ performance from the
Peabody Conservatory of Music at The Johns
Hopkins University, East Carolina University,
and Arizona State University. His former
teachers have included: Robert Carwithen,
Janette Fishell, Peggy Haas-Howell, Kimberly
Marshall, Donald Sutherland, and Carole Terry.
As an organ recitalist he has performed
throughout the US, in England, France, Germany,
and in South Korea. He has lectured at the
local, regional, and national level for the
American Guild of Organists and he also has
presented workshops for the American Choral
Directors Association. His articles have
appeared in The American Organist, Choral
Journal, the Diapason, Music Educators Journal,
and Research and Issues in Music Education. As a
composer, his choral music is published by
Treble Clef Music Press. He has recorded organ
music by Johann Sebastian Bach for Arkay Records
and has been heard on National Public Radio's
Pipedreams. |
